Overview
If you want to understand how the Egyptians went from a mudbrick tomb to the perfected pyramid of Khufu, this day is the best possible answer. We start at Giza, then head down to Saqqara to see Djoser's Step Pyramid — the very first great monument built entirely of dressed stone — before finishing at Dahshur, where the Bent Pyramid literally shows the architects learning as they went.
Dahshur remains one of the least visited sites in the greater Cairo area: you're often almost alone in front of the monuments, which changes the experience completely compared to a busy day at Giza. Our guides walk this same route day after day, and know exactly where to linger and where to move on.
It's a long day, but built to stay comfortable: regular breaks, a pace suited to your group, and a route designed to avoid unnecessary backtracking between sites.
