The Grand Egyptian Museum sits just minutes from the Giza plateau, which makes this combination almost obvious: see the pyramids in person in the morning, then deeply understand — through the GEM collections — the civilisation that built them, that same afternoon.
We start early on the plateau, ahead of the heat and the crowds, for the three pyramids, the Sphinx and the panoramic viewpoint. After a break, we head to the museum, where your guide takes you through the chronological galleries up to Tutankhamun's treasure, now displayed in full.
It's a dense day, but a coherent one: unlike two separate visits on different days, what you saw on site a few hours earlier is still fresh when you reach the museum.
